FOLLOW UP WORKERS

All of our twenty two workers attended the meeting on Tuesday...with our two Nairobi team members arriving last!

The office team was well organized and thus, the meeting flowed smoothly.  The workers were all excited to hear of the increased number of teachers at GCR that is necessitating an increase in the number of WBS students we need to enroll each month.  They rallied together to challenge each other to find more and more people interested in studying the Bible.

We had a healthy discussion just before lunch about the recent challenges facing them in the field.

After lunch we heard reports of their churches...the joys, the expanding programs and the challenges faced each and every day.

Eight of our workers are still awaiting motorbikes that would allow them to travel to meet with students who live in surrounding areas.  The fourteen who received the bikes in 2013 were able to report greater contact with these students.  Please join us in praying for this program to expand.

On Tuesday, Mbuve drove the big MITS bus into Thika Road Mall for a visit to the Batta Store.  These men spend hours and hours daily on the dirt and stone roads ministering to their church members.  The soles of their shoes are quickly worn serving souls of their Father.

NAMEGETTERS' MEETING

Sunday evening our Namegetters arrived at the WBS Headquarters building.  Risper and Esther had prepared them a delicious meal and had set up the dorms in preparation for them.  Everyone enjoyed social time together.

On Monday Morning, eleven of our Namegetters gathered for breakfast and the annual organizational meeting.  We were very pleased with their attention and the dedication they have to the work.  When the individual views the task before him as a calling, he sets his heart to doing his best for the Lord.  We were served lunch in the cafeteria store front of MITS.  The afternoon flowed well as Mauryn wrapped up the discussion with the men and Esther and I met with Tabitha, one of my WBS students, for prayer.  Finally Risper distributed travel reimbursements to the guys!

Juma was the first of the follow up workers to arrive Monday night!  Mbuve stirred up ugali for the combined groups that evening!  With the cancellation of night buses, the two groups were together over night.  We were glad to have the Mbuves' old house available for bedding that night.

SUNDAY

Sunday was certainly a special day of rejoicing and worship in the Kamulu Church with MITS staff and students!  Jay and Remy are very good help in preparing communion.

Class was fun as we broke into small groups discussing chapter 15 of Revelation.  Francis kept the discussion rolling with well spaced questions.
Worship was lively and joyful!  Francis was well prepared with further insights into Revelation 15.  Songs were plentiful and beautiful, and friends were loving.

KAMULU

My welcome to Kenya was late Friday night.  The lights had shut down once again at Kamulu, so Mauryn sent Francis out into the night traffic alone to greet me at the airport.  What a delight it was to see his big smile awaiting me on the other side of customs!  All my bags arrived...although the luggage service was slowed by two international flights arriving within five minutes of each other.  Of course ours was the second of the two!

The Mbuves are recovering from jetlag just a day ahead of me.  The four of them were guests at a lovely wedding in Houston and quiet time on a very cold lake in central Texas before flying home one day before my arrival.

Saturday I met with Mauryn, Risper and Esther to work on office procedures and to plan the week to come.  They were excited to receive bags made especially for them by Julie Burrows.

Later, we made a run into Nairobi to the Nakumat for water and supplies.  There I was able to check emails and Facebook.  Service at Kamulu is seldom reliable.  The rest of the day was relaxing and enjoying family time.  The Mbuve home is quite comfortable and very spacious!  Mauryn has a talent of putting textures and colors together to liven up every room of the house!  What a joy to be directly across the road from the headquarters building which house her offices!

Saturday

Today Mauryn and I met with Risper and Esther in preparation for our meetings on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.  Then while they went to market to purchase food supplies or the week, Francis drove us to the Village Market for other supplies and lunch.
We stopped by the Java House for inter be service, but it is very slow.  Will rest and study the rest of the afternoon.

Travel Day

Thursday as I traveled from Odessa toward London, I received word of my dear friend, Gary Tate, passing into Heaven.  He left an amazing legacy!

Today I awoke in the air over London to the sounds of flight attendants scurrying around with breakfast snacks.   Tomorrow I will awake in a bed in Kamulu to the sounds of young boys still tired from their own overseas flights!

The next two weeks will be filled with hustle and bustle working with name getters, follow up workers and office staff at the WBS Headquarters in Kamulu.  Then we will travel cross country to Ndiwha where Alfayo has arranged meetings with WBS students at each of the churches he oversees and women's meetings as well.  We will stay in his home on the grounds of the orphanage for several nights enjoying the children in our leisure and in their vespers morning and evening.

I will post accounts and photos as the wifi service allows.

COME BEFORE WINTER

We have arrived safely in Brazil to work with a great team of Brazilian women who are launching the first Portuguese Come before Winter.  The first four days will be training and logistics before the participants arrive. Please pray with us for this time of renewal.
